Dr. A. K. Kuruvilla
Late Doctor A. K. Kuruvilla pioneered the profession in erstwhile Kochi and Malabar state/province. He founded the ‘Kurivilla Denthaspathri’ in the nineteen forties at Chowghat near Guruvayoor, which was later re-located to Kunnamkulam Town. Initially the young enterprising doctor even made house visits on his motorcycle. Late Kamala Suraya, noted Malayalam Writer recalls in her autobiography, an incident of Dr. Kurivilla visiting their house and helping her grandmother regain her smile through dental treatment!
Dr. Rajan Kuruvilla
Taking over from his father who expired in 1983, Dr.A.K.Rajan, second son of Dr. Kurivilla continued the good work of his father, and also established the first full-fledged dental lab in kunnamkulam. This lab provided service for the dental clinics not only in and around Kunnamkulam, but also to the dental clinics across the nearby states of Kerala. He is also credited with diversifying the practice into general medical field with specialists in various disciplines of medicine catering to varied needs of the people.

With 12 years of valuable experience, Ligil, the fourth-generation leader of the Kuruvilla family, founded the highly successful Rajan Kurivilla Dental Hospital in Kunnamkulam a decade ago.
